John C. Dailey has a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia
(1998). He is interested in the design of emerging media environments that communicate
in interesting yet comfortable ways. His creative interests include augmented reality,
interaction design, and outdoor photography. Before starting his career as a university
professor, Dailey worked in live television production, serving in every capacity
from studio camera operator through electronic graphics designer to directing news
and remote field productions.
Discovering photography at 23 with an Olympus OM-1 plus a couple of lenses, Dailey
was quickly charmed by the depth of color possible with reversal film and soon became
a Kodachrome fan. His 鈥渟tyle鈥 is looking for 鈥渢he little things,鈥 taking shots of
bits of the world that seem mundane at first, plus looking for the intersection between
man and nature: those things that are forgotten and nature is taking back. In the
fall of 2004, he was honored as an iCard Featured Artist on Apple鈥檚 website. Dailey鈥檚
work has won first place and Best of Show in multiple exhibits.
