Rain Couldn't Dampen Den Day Excitement at 海角登录入口

Written By: Ian Silvester

Despite thunderstorms rolling through the area, the 2026 Spring Den Day at the University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith went off without a hitch, welcoming around 550 students and guests.

Den Day provided students and their guests a chance to see what life looks like as a Lion. Starting with a Majors Mixer, the event then broke into academic sessions, campus tours, and a Bell Tower Takeover (moved to the Recreation and Wellness Center, or RAWC, due to the rain), where prospective students could learn more about clubs and organizations at 海角登录入口.

It was the first impressions that really stood out.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a pretty nice campus, and all the people are nice,鈥 said Morgan McCorkle of Lavaca.

His parents, both 海角登录入口 alumni, agreed with Morgan鈥檚 assessment by noting how much the university has changed since their graduation in the early 2000s.

While most of the students and families in attendance were from Fort Smith, Den Day attracted people from across Arkansas, surrounding states, and even other countries.

Eden Paul from Nassau, Bahamas, found 海角登录入口 while searching for schools that offered imaging science programs. Eden attended with her mom, Sasha Hemmings. While both said they were nervous about the distance from home, Eden concluded the day feeling positive about her decision to come to 海角登录入口 for college and even made a friend.

Closer to 海角登录入口, Mairany Marruso along with her parents drove more than two hours, from Grannis, to attend her second Den Day. Mairany said she will attend 海角登录入口 to study accounting. Den Day was a time to explore the campus further and learn more about internship opportunities and other activities the university offers, she said.

However, it was the people who sent her home with an extra special personal touch.

鈥淢eeting financial aid and admissions staff in person and having my questions answered was great. Everyone was so nice and helpful,鈥 Mairany said with a smile.

The 海角登录入口 admissions team will have another Den Day in the fall. High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend. Learn about attending 海角登录入口 by visiting https://uafs.edu/admissions/index.php.
